Critique with Claude

A skill for Claude that looks at a photo of your drawing, scores it against the module’s rubric, tells you what’s working, and gives you one thing to fix next time.

Download the skill (drawing-critique.zip, 6 KB)

Install it

  1. Download the zip. Don’t unzip it.
  2. In Claude (desktop app or claude.ai), open Settings, then Capabilities. Make sure code execution and web access are switched on.
  3. Under Skills, choose to upload a skill and pick the zip.

You only do this once. The skill reads the rubrics from this website each time, so when a module is added or changed, you get the update without reinstalling.

Use it

  1. Photograph the drawing square-on, in even light such as shade, with the whole page in frame.
  2. In a new chat, attach the photo and say what it is. For example:

Critique this. Module 1, blind contour of my hand, 10 minutes, from life.

Claude replies with a score of 0–2 for each rubric point, a note on what’s working, one fix for next time, and whether the module’s “ready to move on” criteria look met.

Why only one fix

A list of ten problems is easy to read and hard to act on. One clear fix, tried in your next drawing, is what actually changes your drawing.

For the curious

The rubrics live in a plain text file, rubrics.md. Every module page shows the same rubric under “Rubric”.
